I was desperately trying to get some shots of bas-relief carvings at at Palenque, but three things were counting against me. The light was in general was not too good; there weren't that many obvious ones to be found and not having hired a guide or done proper research I didn't know where to find the best examples; and the city of Palenque(which for several centuries had been swallowed up by jungle) has not been uncovered/cleaned up/restored to the extent that some other Mayan sites have. That of course is part of its charm, but it means interesting detail shots are not easy to come across/accomplish. This was about the only one of mine I felt worthy of posting.
