This was my first venture into timed exposure on a dark night. I had planned on doing this on this trip with the soccer team so while everyone was asleep in their rooms (except for two of the chaperone Moms who came walking up the beach in the middle of this shot) I got out my sturdy tripod and set the camera for a number of different exposures and liked this one the best. It was actually dark enough that I used a small flashlight to make my way onto the beach. The lights behind the lifeguard tower are coming from the town of Playa Del Carmen which is only about three miles away. The sky was dark and clear enough for a few stars to make their present known.
