The nuns of the Incarnation founded the first female college of what is now Colombia at this location. The Templo de la Encarnación was constructed between 1764 and 1767 in a simple Baroque style. It was designed by by the German architect and Jesuit Simón Schenherr (1711-1767; a.k.a. Schönherr). It features a beautiful main retable and a number of beautiful side altars that clearly play off each other.
