Uxmal is an ancient Mayan city of the classical period in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. The structures at Uxmal date from about 850 to 1100 AD. It is the most heavily decorated Mayan ruins in the Yucatan. It had a possible population of about 15,000 people. We visited Uxmal on a shore excursion from Progreso, Mexico, in February 2014. The prominent feature is the 'columns group'. In the distance is the Pyramid of the Magician with its rounded corners.
