Uxmal - Pigeon Loft Complex

Uxmal is an ancient Mayan city of the classical period in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. The structures at Uxmal date from about 850 to 1100 AD. It is the most heavily decorated Mayan ruins in the Yucatan. It had a possible population of about 15,000 people. We visited Uxmal on a shore excursion from Progreso, Mexico, in February 2014. This is the pigeon loft complex. It got its name because of the resemblance to pigeon lofts. This view is from the great pyramid.
