I was floored to see that just this year they found more ruins underground, right next to El Castillo. Our guide told us that they expect the archaeologists to release some of their findings in official publications by the end of this year. It was interesting to hear that it was believed that the burial of these ruins was indeed intentional. If you look carefully at the rock layers and how the stones were laid, you can see it was done with purpose.
