Chichen Itza 2

This is a shot of El Castillo, or The Castle. It is located in the center of what is left of the Mayan settlement of Chichen Itza. El Castillo is the temple of Kukulkan, or Quetzalcoatl if you are more familiar with Aztec history. Kukulkan is the feathered serpent god that has many stories that have unknown or uncertain origins due to a lost history. This structure is now closed to the public, though you can see the light color going up the steps where a single rope once provided the only thing to hold onto while climbing the small steep stairs.
