200 kilometers west of the resort city of Cancún is Chichén Itzá, one of Mexico's best-restored archaeological sites. The Mayans were great sportsmen and built large ballcourts to play their games. The Great Ballcourt of Chichen Itza is 225 feet wide and 545 feet long overall. Each end has a raised temple. At one end of the field is the Templo Norte/ North Temple, popularly called the Temple of the Bearded Man.
