Kukulkan is the name of a feathered serpent god of the Maya civilization. The Temple (or Pyramid) of Kukulcan is the main structure of Chichén Itzá archaeological site. It was built to be a physical representation of the Mayan Calendar, which predicted that the world would end in 2012. Chichen Itza is classified as one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World” and in 1988 it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was one of the great Mesoamerican cities in history and today is one of the most popular tourist sites in Mexico.
