In this representation the god K'awill bears his customary flaming torch and a pectoral with the sign ajaw, "lord, ruler." His arms and legs display the ventral scales of a reptile and one of his limbs is transformed into a serpent, which represents a lightning bolt, for he was associated with celestial storms. As a god of the Earth, he was the patron od of agricultural fertility, so he was portrayed with baskets and sacks of corn, in additon to the glyths waaj, tamale or steamed corn cake. In the upper text, the expressions Aj Kab'an, Aj Chan (or Kaan), "He of the Earth, He of the Sky/Serpent" can be seen; these seem to be titles referring to K'awill. The lower text has the name K'uhul Akan, Sacred (god) Akan," a deity related to ritual alcoholic beverages.
