During the dedication rituals that were performed at the conclusion of the construction of some Campeche and Yucatan buildings, between the 7th and 8th centuries, painted capstones were placed at the center of the room. These capstones show God K or K'awill ("sustenance" in Maya) holding in their hands vessels with corn or cacao beans, and a sack with glyphs. These images seem to have been part of a prayer to have an abundance of food, good crops and water.
