This is the largest ballcourt of Mesomaerica and its degree of preservation has permitted a better understanding of the characteristics of the game, the behavior of the spectators, and the playful and ritual dimensions of its significance. The ample dimensions of the playing field and the perpendicular arrangements of its walls suggest a type of play in which the ball was hit with the forearm or a bat-like device to try to pass it through the rings. The scenes carved on the sloped walls of the benches show players wearing protective gear and carrying instruments to strike the ball; it also depicts the fatal end of the captain of the defeated team.
