This shot doesn't really do it justice; it had quite the ornate façade originally, with elaborate decorative finals and balustrades. A lot of it had fallen off, and the very strong morning light made it hard to capture properly. But it must have been quite the impressive place when it was new, especially out in the Yucatan countryside as it was.
