We decided to head over to the Centro area of Mérida to check out the nearby Mercado Lucas De Galvez. Instead of heading to the market, I led us to the plaza instead. Convenient, there's a famous ice cream shop, Dulcería and sorbetería Colón, nearby. Both of us got a sorbet and ate it in the park before heading over to the market. The area threw me off big time. Vendors were selling mostly cheap clothes, household items, toys, mixed in with produce and street food. It was extremely busy with pedestrians. Noises from the streets and the stores. There was nowhere to escape from the people or the heat. I had romanticized the market and forgotten that the city center is where locals get their daily needs. We stumbled into a bakery where we bought a few pastries before I asked to get out of this area. I was feeling overwhelmed.
