. . . did not come into Yucatan in any serious manner until about the 1940s. It was soon adapted for doing decorative embroidery, and has remained an important part of production ever since. Here, an old Singer in the "Mestiza" exhibit about decorative hipiles at the Museum de Palacio Canton, Merida, Yucatan. It was a marvelous exhibit (2012), which I will always remember with great fondness!!
